Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) is the operator
of the German rail network, with one of the most extensive and advanced
train route networks in Europe. Their flagship
InterCityExpress (ICE)
is a highly specified modern high speed train capable of speeds
of up to 198 miles per hour. They claim that the level of comfort
and amenities is equal to a normal first class service but at second
class prices.
Reaching Germany by train is easy. Take the Eurostar
to Paris or Brussels from where there are overnight and daily connection
services. Through tickets are available from Eurostar. The services
below use the excellent City Nightline German sleeper trains which
offer a variety of accommodation types ranging from De-Luxe to 6
berth couchettes. These services mean you can leave London St Pancras
early evening and arrive at your city centre destination next morning.
